{"id":452,"date":"2011-02-25T19:46:55","date_gmt":"2011-02-26T00:46:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucog.org\/blog\/?p=452"},"modified":"2011-02-25T19:46:55","modified_gmt":"2011-02-26T00:46:55","slug":"are-we-willing-to-yield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ucog.org\/blog\/index.php\/2011\/02\/25\/are-we-willing-to-yield\/","title":{"rendered":"Are we &quot;willing to yield?&quot;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The apostle James tells us what the characteristics of Godly wisdom are &ndash; the wisdom that He imparts to us: &quot;But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, <i>willing to yield,<\/i> full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy&quot; (James 3:17) <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Among those characteristics is a <i>willingness to yield.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment in the Law, He replied that love toward God and love toward neighbor are the greatest commandment.<\/p>\n<p>Our willingness to yield as an expression of love toward God includes having a child-like attitude, being willing to be led and taught. Jesus said: &quot;Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven&quot; (Matthew 18:3).<\/p>\n<p>Of course, we demonstrate our <i>willingness to yield<\/i> toward God by being submissive to His word, allowing it to direct our thoughts and actions: &quot;Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path&quot; (Psalm 119:105).<\/p>\n<p>Our <i>willingness to yield<\/i> as an expression of love toward neighbor is seen by our not insisting on getting our own way: &quot;Love .&nbsp;.&nbsp;. does not seek its own&quot; (1 Corinthians 13:5). It is evidenced by a spirit of cooperation and putting the common interest ahead of personal interest. Perhaps the best evidence of our <i>willingness to yield<\/i> toward our neighbor(s) is an atmosphere of peace that permeates our interpersonal relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Godly wisdom is a gift from God, imparted via His holy spirit.
