The advantage is a family atmosphere during the service, which in a smaller group is often an interactive Bible study. Afterwards there is a chance to fellowship and have a meal together, like we did last Sabbath at our small Bielefeld group. (Bielefeld is about 70 miles southwest of Hannover on the A2 Autobahn.) We don’t meet in Bielefeld, though – we never have, even though that is what the congregation is called. This is one of the locations where I take the train to services. My morning this past Sabbath looked like this:<\/p>\n
• 4:30 a.m. – alarm sounds, time to get out of bed;
• 5:40 a.m. – left my apartment for the Siegburg-Bonn train station;
• 6:14 a.m. – train from Siegburg-Bonn to Cologne-Deutz, change trains;
• 6:50 a.m. – train from Cologne-Deutz to Hamm, change trains;
• 8:16 a.m. – train from Hamm to Paderborn, change trains;
• 9:15 a.m. – train to Bad Pyrmont, arriving at 10:01 a.m. <\/p>\n
From there it was about a 20 minute walk to the member’s home where we had our service, which began at 11:00 a.m. and ended about 1:15 p.m. After that, it was time to enjoy lunch. In the late afternoon I made the same trip in reverse to get back home by about 9:00 p.m. or so.
