On Sunday following services in Stuttgart, our congregation visited a nearby Celtic museum.

We had our church service at 3 p.m. to accommodate my arrival from Darmstadt, where I had been for a morning service. The drive from Darmstadt to Stuttgart takes nearly 2 hours. After services in Stuttgart we walked to a nearby Italian restaurant and had dinner together, talking until past 8 p.m. I stayed overnight with my hosts Hermann and Herta Göhring, and we made it home just in time to see the 2nd half of the European Cup qualifying match between Germany and Ireland, which Germany won 1-0. On Sunday we met at a Celtic museum near Stuttgart where a well-preserved burial mound of a Celtic prince was excavated in the 1970s. Our guide was really good, and it was most interesting to see the concentration of Celtic settlements in this part of Germany. They were located within access of the Danube river, which empties into the Black Sea, providing a clue re: how the Celts may have traveled to Germany and beyond. We then visited a nearby corn field cut into a labyrinth and enjoyed the challenge of finding our way out again. In the late afternoon it was time for everyone to head home. For me it was about a 3 hour drive back to Bonn.
