My first trip along the Rhine River was in the summer of 1972. I took a train from Bonn to Munich, and the sunny day was perfect for the stretch of the river just south of Bonn. 35 years later it was another sunny day for seeing the Rhine just south of Bonn. This time, though, my mode of "transportation" was a little different. I ran a full marathon with Mary Ann Miller and Matthew Bates. (more…)

40 years ago today the Federal Republic of Germany’s first chancellor, Konrad Adenauer, died at the age of 91 in the small town of Rhöndorf south of Bonn. (more…)
