Weekend Trip to Switzerland |

I attended Sabbath services today in Winterthur, Switzerland, where we had 27 in attendance.
Yesterday’s trip began at 6:30 a.m. with me leaving my apartment near Bonn for the six hour drive to Meersburg on Lake Constance. My first stop was the home of Jürgen and Elke Erz and their three children. Their daughter Antonia attended our summer camp as a youth worker, and their youngest daughter Xenia was a camper. After lunch Jürgen and I walked through the historic town center of Meersburg. The first part of the spring feast in 2007 was held in Meersburg, and we hope to have a larger group there next year for the Passover and first day of Unleavened Bread. Later we drove over to Überlingen to visit Jürgen’s brother Bernd, who sometimes attends with us. Following a visit there I took a ferry across Lake Constance to the German city of Konstanz, then I drove to Kreuzlingen in Switzerland and from there on to the small town of Schönenberg where I stayed overnight with the Büchel family.
Services on Sabbath afternoon were in Winterthur, about a 45 minute drive from the Büchel residence. We had 27 in attendance, with a few missing because of summer vacation. David Mörker was visiting from Minnesota, as well as Roger Waite from England. The congregation was quite happy to welcome two ladies who attended their first service with us after leaving the Philadelphia church to return to United. After services we enjoyed a sumptuous snack buffet, and then I drove to Wattwil to visit the Betschart family. We had dinner at Jolanda’s house (in the picture, from left, are Jolanda and her son Kai, Emmy Krieg and Verana Betschart).
