As a designated Council of Elders member, I was asked to attend the CoE meeting this week. A new but familiar experience.
The two day meeting was actually quite a bit like our UCG-Germany National Council meetings. The topics on the agenda were different, but the meeting itself – the discussion and the give and take – were very similar. One difference is that our National Council meetings move along quicker. Other than myself, the other six council members are unpaid volunteers. We only have holidays and Sundays available for our meetings, which so far have always lasted only one day. Since we have to accomplish our business by the end of the day, we tend to end discussion when it is clear where we all stand on an agenda item. My first regular meeting as a "voting" member of the Council of Elders will be in August.
