Trip to Suriname, Day 1 |

After a train delay of some two hours, I made it to the Netherlands for tomorrow’s flight to Suriname.
Originally I wanted to come over to the Amsterdam airport on the day of the flight, tomorrow. But since we have to check in at 9 a.m. (the flight is at 11 a.m.), there is no train connection early enough in the morning to get me to Schiphol airport by 9 a.m. So Marcos Rosales and I decided I would come today and spend the night in Gouda, which is where he lives. For the high-speed train connections between Germany and the Netherlands and France they use two different trains. Apparently the trains that run in Germany and the Netherlands will not work properly in France. However, they used the wrong train on today’s trip. Instead of it being a train that normally goes to the Netherlands, it was one that goes to France. So our trip ended at the Dutch-German border. From there the passengers were transported by bus to Arnhem in the Netherlands, where everyone was able to get on another train to Utrecht. So the EU is still working on getting unified, it seems. 🙂
I made it to Gouda at 10:30 p.m. and Marcos picked me up at the station. Tomorrow we leave at 7:30 a.m. for the airport.
Comment from Rainer and Margit Barth:
Dear Paul and Marcos, we wish a good flight and God bless your trip to the brethren in Suriname!
