Stan Braumuller and his wife Barbara are in Suriname on behalf of UCG-Holland. Yesterday they met former Suriname prime minister Wim Udenhout.
In mid-November Stan and Barbara left their home in Florida for a two month visit to Suriname on behalf of UCG-Holland. Stan is originally from Suriname and speaks Dutch, the national language of Suriname. He accompanied Marcos Rosales and myself on our visit to Suriname in January 2009 and last year Stan accompanied Marcos during the spring festival. Stan volunteered to go to Suriname to help stabilize our small group there, conducting church services and Bible studies during his visit and giving basic leadership instruction. Yesterday they met with former Suriname prime minister Wim Udenhout, who was once Stan’s English instructor at the Suriname Institution of Teachers. (Mr. Udenhout did a good job with Stan!) Mr. Udenhout was prime minister from 1984-1986, and also represented Suriname as ambassador to the United States from 1989 to 1997. Stan reported that they discussed a number of world events, but most important to Stan was Mr. Udenhout’s comment that the United States of America, in spite of problems, remains the number one super power in the world. Stan made use of the opportunity to talk about our booklet United States and Britain in Prophecy as well as our purpose of being in Suriname. Mr. Udenhout commented favorably on Stan’s commitment to Christianity, and Stan invited him to visit the United Church of God website.
