What we are thankful for? |
Have you ever thought about the importance of being thankful? Thankfulness is an antidote for worries!
In Philippians 4:6 the apostle Paul writes: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
Paul’s exhortation shows us that we don’t need to be anxious if we bring our requests before God’s throne – with thankfulness. The next verse seems to show that there is a relationship between thankfulness and inner peace: "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (verse 7).
Thankfulness is a key to satisfaction in life. If we consider the things for which we can be thankful, our attitude will be more positive.
What is there to be thankful for?
For example:
each new day that God gives us,
each sunset that we experience,
our senses that enable us to hear, see, taste, feel and smell,
things that we in western countries take for granted like clothing, shelter and food,
help and support from our friends,
our parents and everything they have done for us,
our calling and the privilege to understand the truth of God . . .
What are you thankful for? Do something for your inner peace of mind and add a few items to the list!
With these thoughts I wish us all a rewarding Sabbath!
