God told Noah to build the ark so human life would be able to survive the flood. Animals were also supposed to survive: "And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive" (Genesis 6:19-20). (more…)

When a Pharisee asked Jesus which commandment is the greatest in the law, Jesus did not give just one law as an answer, but two: "Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39). (more…)
