A building block of good health

We all wish for ourselves what the apostle John wishes his readers in his 3rd epistle: "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers" (3 John 1:2). We all would like to be in good health. Where does good health start? With exercise and proper nutrition?

Those are important aspects in promoting good health, but being in good health involves more than just the physical.

The medical profession recognizes a connection between a positive mental attitude and good physical health. 3000 years this connection was recorded as part of God’s revelation to man: "A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones" (Proverbs 17:22).

King Solomon adds: "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression" (Proverbs 12:25).

That is why trust in God is important for our physical and mental health. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones" (Proverbs 3:5-8).

With these thoughts I wish everyone a rewarding Sabbath!
