"And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another" (Matthew 24:10). Would you sign this if your well-being was on the line?
"I have recognized that the United Church of God spreads false doctrines and pursues only anti-state goals under the guise of religious activity. I have therefore completely turned away from this organization and have also inwardly renounced the teachings of this sect. I hereby assure you that I will never again be active for the United Church of God. I will immediately turn in persons who approach me to promote the false doctrines of the United Church of God or who otherwise express their views as members of the United Church of God. If I receive any publications from this organization, I will immediately turn them in at the nearest police station. In the future I will respect the laws of the state and fully integrate myself into the national community. I have been informed that if I do not comply with my statement made today, I will immediately be detained again."
(A declaration mandated by the Gestapo that had to be signed by those under religious persecution so they could be released from the Dachau concentration camp; District Police Office Munich, January 23, 1939; "UCG" was inserted at corresponding points of the text)
Would you sign this if your well-being was on the line?
"But he who endures to the end shall be saved" (Matthew 24:13).
With these thoughts I wish everyone a rewarding Sabbath!
