The Bible tells that us that all human beings (except, of course, Jesus Christ) have sinned: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)

The apostle Paul tells us that the "wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23), but through Jesus Christ we can be freed from that penalty: "Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 7:24-25). We learn that "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

As Christians we "were bought with a price" (1 Corinthians 6:20), and that price was the blood of our savior Jesus Christ, the lamb of God (Acts 20:28; John 1:29).

We understand that Jesus paid the price for our redemption from sin by His death.

But His death isn’t the only one that is necessary for our salvation.

In accepting His sacrifice, we, too must die! Baptism is a symbol of our death: "Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? There we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:3-4).

Christ died for our sins. If we accepted His sacrifice, we did, too.
